

Survived by: fiancée Janice Pauley, Centerburg, Ohio; daughter Beth Buckner and daughter-in-law Regina Buckner of Beaumont, TX; sister and brother-in-law Charlotte and Tom Bird of McKinney, TX; nephews Bob Bird of Commerce, TX; and Ed Bird of York, PA; and numerous great nieces and nephew.
Immediately following graduation from Bexley High School, Ben enlisted in the Naval Reserve and served aboard the U.S.S. Willis A. Lee, DL-4 for a year and a half. During that time, the ship was a part of the Cuban Blockade.
Ben attended Bowling Green State University and graduated from Franklin University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.
During his 52-year career in business, he was in Quality and Safety Management and Supervision, serving several companies in Ohio and Kentucky, including 14 years at The Timken Co. in Columbus. He was Vice President of Quality at Midwest Acoust-A-Fiber in Delaware, Ohio where he implemented the ISO/QS 9000 quality system. He was a Certified Quality Auditor by the American Society of Quality.
Prior to retirement, he served for 14 years as Safety Director, at Global Compression Services, Inc. (formerly known as Potemkin Industries, Inc.) in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
Ben was a member and Past President of three Toastmaster Clubs and credits this organization for many of his successes in business particularly as a leader and instructor.
Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed traveling both locally and abroad.
Ben was a member of North Congregational United Church of Christ in Columbus.
