

Bernard W. “Bernie” Hartman, 83, of Dublin, entered into eternal rest Friday, November 5, 2010. He was born August 17, 1927 in Baltimore, MD and was a graduate of the University of Baltimore. Bernie was a member of the National Association of Accountants, National Association of Credit Managers, and The Rotary Club in Baltimore. Bernie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was Vice-President and Controller of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Baltimore, MD, and relocated to Columbus in 1981. After 20 years with Coca-Cola, Bernie retired in 1986. He was a devout Christian and a member of St. Brendan The Navigator Catholic Church. Bernie was an avid Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan, walker and jogger and could be seen most mornings at Antrim Lake. He was maintenance chairman for Hayden Falls Condo #1 for several years and was always there when needed. A wonderful, generous man, Bernie was a doting grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Catherine Hartman and brother, Ambrose. Bernie will be missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Peggy; son, Howard Hartman; daughter, Kimberly (David) Chappell; 5 grandchildren, Amy Gallagher, Andrew and Alex Hartman, and Alyssa and Devon Chappell; sisters, Elizabeth Astudillo and Helen Webber; brothers, James (Lillian) Hartman and Thomas (Madlyn) Hartman; sister-in-law, Doris Hartman; and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at St. Brendan The Navigator Catholic Church, 4475 Dublin Rd., Hilliard, OH, Fr. John Johnson, Celebrant. Interment to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Monday from 2-6pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus.
