

Bernard “Bernie” Moats, age 79, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2018. He was born November 21, 1938 in Circleville Ohio, and he graduated from Circleville High School. Bernie served honorably in The United States Navy from 1957 to 1963 and was also a proud member of AMVETS Honor Guard. Bernie retired from PPG as a supervisor after over 30 years of service. In his free time, he loved to fish, one of his favorite places being Canada, where he would make trips with his friends from PPG. Bernie will be missed by all who knew him.
Bernie is preceded in death by his mother Marie Wilkins (Russell) Herron and his father Russell Moats; his sisters Georgia Walton and Dot Palmer; his brothers Jerry Herron and Dick Herron; as well as his nephew Ken Palmer.
Left to mourn his passing are his sisters Beverly (Randy) Tatman and Charlene Coates; his brothers Ted (Shirley Spangler) Herron and Tom (Betty) Herron; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Logan Elm Health Care for the wonderful care Bernie received in his three years there.
Visitation will be held at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, located at 151 East Main Street Circleville, on Thursday January 18 from 4 to 6pm. Bernie’s Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday January 19 at 11am with Pastor Lynne Summers officiating. Burial will follow at Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery, where AMVETS Post 2256 will conduct military honors.
