Betty Jane Allison

Betty Jane Cotton Allison, age 86, passed peacefully with family by her side on January 18, 2016 at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. She was born April 8, 1929 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late George Thomas and Elsie Cotton. Betty and her twin sister, Barbara, were raised by their beloved grandmother, the late Anna Sarah Beatty Cotton. She attended grade school in Carrs Run, a small community in Beaver, Ohio and graduated from Waverly High School in Waverly, Ohio. While growing up she attended Liberty Valley A.M.E. Church where her grandfather, the late Emil Corwine Cotton, was founder and first pastor. Betty was a kind hearted woman of strong faith who devoted her life to family and Christian service. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George Allison; sister, Barbara Jackson; brother, Marquis Thomas; and brother-in-law, James Jackson. Betty is survived by her children, Patricia Cotton (Stephen) Fenner, William (Julie) Allison, Alice Allison, Donna Allison, Morris Allison, and Kathleen Allison along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2016 at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43232 where family will welcome friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery.
