Betty Jane Early, age 91, longtime resident of Upper Arlington, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Betty was born in Hamilton, Ohio and grew up in Wabash, Indiana, daughter of the late Ernest and Hazel Schul. Also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Early, son-in-law, Tom Stivison and siblings, Annabelle and Roland "Bud". Betty attended Manchester College and graduated from The Ohio State University where she earned a degree in Education. Betty began her teaching career at Bath Elementary School in Lima, Ohio and throughout the years also worked with the Columbus City Schools and Upper Arlington Schools. Betty loved teaching and even after retirement she continued to substitute teach. Betty was also a past member at EUB Burgess Ave. Church and longtime member of Northwest United Methodist Church. She loved music and enjoyed singing and dancing and also loved to travel and spent much time ion Florida. Family however was most important to Betty and she loved nothing more than spending time together, especially with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her children, Cookie Stivison, Richard (Diane) Early, Michele (Ernie) Potter and Denise (Dane) Mazzitti; grandchildren, Cara, Nikki, Allie, Josh, Elizabeth, Amy, Zach, Joe, Lexi, Luke, Trey and Hailey; and great grandchildren, Gabbey, Cole, Peter, Will, Hunter, Hayden, Hudson, Holden, Clay, Brock, Tommy and Genevieve who was born on Betty's 90th birthday. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Monday, April 22, 2013 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., where family will receive friends from 2-6 P.M. Sunday.
