Betty L. Griffeth passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Willow Brook Christian Home, where she has resided for the past several years. Her daughter, Sherrie Andrus and granddaughter, Jennifer Andrus were by her side, which was a blessing. She was born May 24, 1929 and lived an amazing and rich life to the age of 91.
While Betty and Dick were married, they enjoyed traveling many places both in and out of the United States. For 26 years, Betty & Dick were snowbirds. They resided in Forest Park West for the spring & summers and in Largo, Florida for the fall & winters. She loved taking care of her roses, decorating both inside and outside for Christmas, and she loved her Ohio State Buckeyes, following both basketball and football. Betty and Dick enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. To her grandchildren, she was “Mama” and to her great grandchildren, she was “Grandma Birdie.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson Schaffer and Laura (Berry) Argo; her devoted husband of 61 years, Richard Griffeth; son, Stephen Griffeth; grandaughter, Stephanie Griffeth; and sisters, Mary Shifley, Louise Jones and Ruth Beach.
She is survived by her brother, John Argo; daughter, Sherrie (Gary) Andrus; grandchildren, Jennifer Andrus, Jason Andrus, Jared (Wendy) Andrus, Elin Heinemann, Eric Griffeth; great grandchildren, Thomas Armstrong, Anna Armstrong, Jade Andrus, Jayla Andrus, Hunter, Houston, Austin and Dallas Heinemann; and great-great grandson, Laykin Heinemann; as well as nieces and nephews.
Sherrie and family would sincerely like to acknowledge a heartfelt thank you to the Willow Brook Christian Home Assisted Living Staff, who truly showed how much they cared for Betty while she lived there. Willow Brook became her home and she became part of “their family.”
Due to the health crisis, no viewing or service will take place at this time. The family hopes in the Spring of 2021, closer to her birthday, a Celebration of her Life may be held. If you would like to make a memorial donation in her name, please mail to Columbus Schools Special Olympics, 3700 S. High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43207 or Columbus NE Lions Club, 3938 Eisenhower Road, Cols, Ohio 43224.
Schoedinger North is honored to serve Betty's family.
