Betty Jane Mullins, age 98, longtime resident of Upper Arlington passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Betty was born April 8, 1920 to the late William and Lula Gorey. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Robert K. Mullins; brothers, Wilbur and Robert Gorey; sisters, Marian Hurst and Florence Gorey. Betty was initiated into the R.T. King Chapter #340 on November 2, 1944. She served as Worthy Matron in 1951. In 1956 she was Grand Matron for Eastern Star Chapter of Ohio. At one point R.T. King formed Beacon Chapter #593. Betty received her 50 year membership pin in 1994. She has remained an active member up until her passing. During Betty's career, she was an executive assistant at The Ohio State University until her retirement. She was a 70 year member of Riverside United Methodist Church and had a very strong faith. In 1984 Betty joined Riverside United Methodist Sewing Guild #48, where she volunteered for 30 years. She served as recording secretary from 1993-95 and was corresponding secretary from 1995-2011. She was very proud of her time spent in the Guild sewing hats and blankets for infants at the local hospitals. Betty will be deeply missed by her loving sister, Evelyn Maxwell; nieces, Carol Ylitalo, Cynda (David) Baldini, and Debbie Balliet; nephews, Michael (Deborah) Maxwell and Bruce Hanawalt; life-long friend, Virginia Kaltenbach and her family; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4-7pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. There will be an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 6:45pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11am at Riverside United Methodist Church, 2701 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Interment at Union Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Riverside United Methodist Church.
