Betty Lou Overmyer

Betty "Lou" Overmyer, 93, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021. She was born August 6, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Milo and Ethel (Watkins) Smith. She was a graduate of Grove City High School and attended The Ohio State University. Lou retired from Chemical Abstracts with 24 years of service. Her family was really important to her and she cherished the time that she was able to spend together. She was a dedicated Christian and spent many hours praying for her family. For several years, she led the puppet ministry at St. Paul Lutheran Church, New Rome. Lou was an excellent cook and liked to volunteer her skills with Faith Mission. Lou met the love of her life, Bill in 1948 at OSU and they were married for 42 years before his death. She was an Army officer's wife and loved the time that she lived abroad. Later in her life, she enjoyed the trips she took to Israel, New Orleans, and Virginia Beach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry "Bill" Overmyer, Sr.; and brothers, David and Jim Smith. Lou is survived by her children, William H. (Julie) Overmyer, Jr., Diane Nolan, Randall (Debbie) Overmyer, Thomas (Beverly) Overmyer, Rick (Pam) Overmyer; and Brad (Daniela Woodyard) Overmyer; grandchildren, Matthew, Elizabeth, Becky, Steven, Michael, Ben, Megan, Joshua, Nick, Brittany, Abigail, Bobby, Alice, Nautica, Jacquelyn, Cali, Scott, Malachi, Sarah, Chad, April, and Drew; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 11 am - 1 pm Friday, September 24, 2020 at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY, 3920 Broadway, Grove City where funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Entombment Green Lawn Cemetery.
