Jody was one of the finest most wonderful people I have ever had the treasure to know.  I was not just a patient of the NSCU at MCE but I also worked in an ICU at the time she and I first met.  I can still hear her teasing me about being "Elsie" the moo cow and really think back to some of the funny bits of teasing that were excanged between she and I.  Jody, Nancy, Cathy and Candy really touched my life and now I too am proud to serve as a part of the NSCU at Grant.   I miss her so much.       Vanessa McKinney

Jody will be sorely missed--she had so much life in her--always having a good time and making everyone laugh.  I will always remeber when Nancy, Jody and Susie came to spend a long weekend with my family in Chicago ("the big city")--Jody and Susie were still in high school.  Their eyes were big and they enjoyed anything we did--couldn't believe "city Mom's" knew how to bake a homemade pie.  Jody grew up to be a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and continued being an important part to her siblings. I dated Jody’s older sister, Susie, for several years during the mid-seventies and I got to know her family quite well.  I have many fond memories of Jody. One that comes to mind was how we were always joking about their pet dog Pepper (laughing about the time Junie ran over him in the driveway and he came out unscathed, and how the dog always seemed to have a perpetual oil stain on the fur on his side).   She had a great laugh and it was fun to get her laughing.  It was also fun seeing her around her friends and how they would get each other going – joking, laughing, etc. I also remember being at their house to celebrate her 16th birthday.    She was always friendly, smiling, and a pleasure to be around.  In reading the tributes from those who have known her in more recent years, it is obvious that she kept these great qualities.  I extend my deepest sympathies to Ron, her children, and the rest of her family.  She was truly one of a kind.  Philip Andersen

It was our privilege to know Jody through Nancy Hough Garrison when Jody & Ron and their family were visiting Nancy's family. There have been many times our family was included in the fun and celebrations of the Garrisons and their extended family. My favorite and forever lasting memory will be when I was in a bounce house in Nancy's backyard with Jody, Nancy, & Susie and the bounce house collapsed on one side and Jody got stuck in it and just laughed and laughed and we all got caught up in her contagious joy and we all laughed so hard we could not get up or out of the bounce house!! Just thinking about Jody's joy and laughter that day brings a huge smile to my face. She was a blessing on this earth and we are honored to have known her and experienced her wonderful spirit. Our sympathy, thoughts, and prayers are with Ron and the entire Sima family, with Nancy, Leo and their children, and all of Jody's extended family. "Mrs. Sima", is the first memory I have.  Her daughter, Anna, and I were in elementary school together and Mrs. Sima was a room mom helper.  She was so nice and went with us on our field trips.  As time passed and Anna and I got older, I was able to come to know one of the sweetest women.  She ALWAYS wore a smile on her face and was so sweet.  She will be missed and always remembered and loved.

I had the honor of being with the Hough family on many occasions in my childhood and have been invited to many family gatherings since.  Jody was always so warm and welcoming.  She would ask about my family; she was always interested in others.  She was witty and funny and it was a joy to be in her company.

My deepest sympathies to the Hough and the Sima families.  I knew Jody very well growing up in Center Point, as well as her entire family.  Her sister and husband were classmates of mine.  I always remember her as a very warm, caring person who loved to laugh, who exuded a positive attitude, and who made others around her happier. Sima and Hough families-Jody was a wonderful and funny lady. We had great times going to Center Point schools together. One of my best memories was spending the night at the Hough home and going to RE (religious education) class for their Christmas Party. Since I went to RE in Cedar Rapids it was a treat to go with the other kids I went to school with. Always warm and caring, that was Jody. Our deepest sympathy to you all.

I was fortunate to have spent many days and nights with the Houghs while growing up.  Jody really could have been a stand-up comedian ... she never failed to make you laugh, no matter what the circumstance.  God gives us people like Jody to help us bear this sometimes unbearable earthly existence. Ron and family, I am so sorry for your loss.  My wonderful memories of Jody are of her sitting on her patio, with a glass of wine,  with her friends and family, just enjoying the day.  She loved playing in the yard with her grandchildren and doing a wonderful job as grandma,  being involved and helping to teach  them the way she raised her own children.  She was a great source of comfort and understanding when I shared my issues with my mother having Dementia the same as her mother.   I will miss, stopping my yard work in the summer to come over and sit down and enjoying a glass of wine with her.

We had so much fun playing soccer in the “over-30” league a few years ago!  She was so funny, and will be missed dearly.  Life is short, but Jodi managed to pack it full.  She was loved.

Jodi was one of the most genuine, compassionate people that I have had the priveledge to know and love.  With a quick wit and a quicker smile, she charmed any room she entered.  She always seemed to know the right things to say, in any situation.  Eric, you may not know this but your mother and I arranged your marraige about 7 yrs ago to my oldest daughter so that she and I could be inlaws.  She was that kind of person-one that you always wanted to have an excuse to be around.  I will miss her so.

My heart aches for the news I just received, one of our own has gone home. I have fond memories of Jody, when I would help out in the SCN unit from time to time. She always made me feel welcome and her warm smile I will always remember. She loved to talk and share stories about her family. You could just feel the love around her! I met Jody while working at MCE NICU many years ago.  She had so much compassion for the babies and their families.  She was a very special person to me during a difficult time in my life.  We shared floor seats at a Neil Diamond concert on a special day that led me on my current journey, back in 2001.  I am in shock to hear of her passing as she meant much to me.  Some friends come into your life and although for a short time, they can make all the difference in the world to you.  Jody was that kind of person to me. I first want to start off by saying that Jody was so special. Growing up with the kids I spent much of my time at the house and really enjoyed all of what Jody was. I will always remember her for the fun, laughter, and boy I loved her cooking. She used to joke with me that I had this sixth sense and would show up to house just in time when she was cooking a good meal, or snack. She embodied what it is to be "great" person. Whether it was her motherly advice, jokingly attitude you could always count on her for anything. I have been blessed to have known her and will be forever greatful for everything she had done in my life. As she moves on to her new journey she will always be smiling down upon us all. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of loss.

I was so excited to finally meet Jody when we were in the hospital having our girls. I had heard so many wonderful stories about her and how she had such an impact on my husband growing up. When I met her her smile and attitude were infectious! She was so warm and loving and it was as if I had known her my entire life. She did an amazing job raising wonderful kids whose personalities mock those of their beautiful mother. I am blessed to have met such a special person. She will be deeply missed.

I moved to Center Point the summer before third grade, at the age of eight, and "Betty," as she was known then, was my first friend and remained one of my closest friends to this day.  I'm not surprised at all by all of the kind words I hear about her.  She was truly a person who chose to find the positives in every experience, good or bad.  I can't think of any part of my life that wasn't touched somehow by her insight, her humor, and her love.  And now I see those same traits being passed on through her children, which is the greatest legacy of all. 

I was given this poem recently that sums up her personality.  "She Who Has Great Attitude.  The way she sees it, if you want rainbows, you gotta have rain.  She goes out in the storm looking for puddles to play in.  She brightens up every dark place.  She finds joy in the journey.  And just about everything makes her laugh.  For her, laughter in the face of adversity is the finest sound there is.  She has great attitude."

Jody and I first met when she first moved to Gahanna; we were neighbors when her children were young. It amazed me she always wore a smile and loved being around family and friends, We would always share our everyday stories with each other(good or bad).She was aways baking, and living right next door to her I got the benefit of good homemade food.Jody was a one of kind lady, a loving,generous person that would brighten up a room as she came into it. I will never forget her.She had a special spirit of her own and will be sadly missed.She will make a beautiful angel.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the Sima family.  I have heard story after story about what an amazing woman Jody was from Jon, Kate and Eric. I remember thinking when I met her how beautiful she was and how you could just feel what a loving person she was when she was in the room.  I know she touched a lot of lives and will continue to do so as an angel.

My deepest condolences to the Sima family.  I had the privilege of coaching Neil's St. Matthew's basketball team with Jody's husband Ron 20 yrs ago.  One of the rewards of coaching is meeting wonderful parents such as Jody and Ron.  They were one of my favorites.  Jody was always so kind and supportive and I always enjoyed her smile and positive attitude.  Thank you, Jody,..I will always cherish those memories. Where do I start to express my feelings for such a funny, talented, loving, and just wondeful person... We would laugh all day at work until our stomachs hurt and our renditions of the Carpenter's greatest hits were a treat for anyone to hear.  Her smile was contagious and could light up anyone's darkest day. I will truly miss her and feel blessed to have her placed in my life. I am truly a better person having known Jody. I love you!! First, let me say that it takes a special person to do what Jody did for a living.  When we were in the hospital having our first daughter Madison, Jody went out of her way to make sure that everything was going okay with Marsha and Madison.  She also made a very decorative name tag to go on our daughters crib so that we could notice her in the nursery as soon as we looked in.  She did that for our second daughter Makenna as well.  Jody was a special person that will be missed dearly.  Our familis thoughts and prayers go out to the Sima family.

She was the best aunt i have ever had we had some good memories! We love you aunt Jody! We now know you are in a better place!  We will miss you so much!
