

Beulah L. “Bea” Lucas, 75, of Dublin, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011. She was born December 25, 1935 in Bluefield, Virginia to the late Marvin and Lottie Byrd. At age 18, Bea moved to Columbus where she worked as a nanny and housekeeper for the French family. She met the love of her life, Rudy, and they were married two years later. Bea and Rudy were inseparable and remained in love and affectionate throughout their entire marriage. Bea was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was completely devoted to her family. She enjoyed having the family together to play cards and to cook her Hungarian-Southern Style meals. Bea liked to work crossword puzzles, shop for her family, and watch the Buckeyes. She will be remembered for the sweet impression she left on so many people, her humbleness, beautifully kept home, and great cooking. In addition to her parents, Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; son, Mark; and siblings, Eulah, Hester, Charles, and Emmett. Bea will be missed by her loving children, Dan M. Lucas and Judy E. (Steve) Kirk; grandchildren, Nicci, Chris, Steven, Danny, and Alexandria; great-grandson, Robert; brother, Marvin Byrd; sisters-in-law, Patricia Lindsey, Helen and Belle Williams, Martha (Al) Weiss, and Mary Byrd; brother-in-law, Donald (Ann) Lucas; and dear friend, Kathryn Shephard. Family will receive friends Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 2-5 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH, where the funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Interment in Union Cemetery.
