Billie Swelstad

Billie was born on March 25, 1942 in Marion, Indiana to Col. William C. (USMCR) and Avis Smith. She graduated from North Central High School in 1960 and received an art degree from Indiana University in 1964, where she met her husband, Ron Swelstad.

Billie loved painting, especially watercolors, and many people admired her work that hung in the many houses she and her family lived in over the years. She was passionate about her Christian faith and was a living example to everyone who knew her. Most of all, she was dedicated to her family, always remembering and celebrating holidays and birthdays with zeal.

Billie was preceded in death by her father, Colonel William C. Smith, her mother, Avis Smith, and her brother Steve Smith. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ron, their three sons, Eric, Mark, and Mike, and their five grandchildren, Jonathan, Amanda, Taylor, Roman, and Oliver.

A private burial will be held on April 5, 2021 at Mifflin Cemetery in Gahanna, Ohio at 11 am. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Flowers may be sent to Schoedinger Funeral Home at 1051 E Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230, who has been entrusted with arrangements for Billie.
