Billy Gene Fortenberry, age 82, of Columbus, Ohio passed away April 28, 2014. He was born June 13, 1931 in Gadsen, Alabama and was preceded in death by his father, Henry Fortenberry and mother, Iva Lee Prickett. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and U.S. Air Force during Vietnam War. He retired from North American Rockwell. Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Violet (Gibson) Fortenberry; daughters, Sharon (John) McShane, Shelia (Ron) McDonald and Karen (Tim) Griffith; grandchildren, Ian, Colin, Allison, Hannah, Damon, Justin and Derek; stepdaughters, Shelia (Tom) Dane and Brenda (Rick) Moore; step-grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Natalie, Joseph and Erin; step-great-grandchildren, Meghan and Jacob. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:30pm Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Kingwood Memorial Park, Lewis Center, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger East Chapel.
