

Bob was a 1942 graduate of Central High School. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from The Ohio State University and he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Private First Class in the 39th Signal Construction Battalion.
After the war, he married Mary Valentine in 1952. They moved to Ashtabula where he taught Biology/Physical Education and coached football. In 1958, they returned to Columbus where he taught at Linden-McKinley. Bob became an Administrator and worked at Yorktown, Mohawk and Beechcroft schools. He retired from Columbus City Schools in 1987.
Bob grew up attending St. John’s Evangelical Church and was currently a member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He was a 33 degree Mason and a member of the Columbus Maennerchor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ted and Clarise. Bob will be missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Bieber; son, Ted Bieber; daughter, Melissa (Gregg) Simpson; granddaughters, Carolyn (Christian Molzahn, fiancé) and Christine Simpson; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 4131 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214, Rev. William P. Gause, officiating. Calling hours at the church from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Private burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the church or The Columbus Foundation, 1234 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43205.
