

Bob E. Kern, age 79, passed away peacefully at Mt. Carmel Select Hospital on Thursday, May 13, 2010. He was born June 26, 1930 in Monroe Township, Pickaway County to the late Harry A. and Pearl Downing Kern. Bob retired in 1985 from the State of Ohio after having worked 29 years at Orient Developmental Center where he had been the Superintendent of Maintenance. Bob lived the majority of his life in Five Points in Pickaway County, Ohio and moved to Hardesty Village in Columbus in the early nineties. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Korea as an Army engineer. He had been a member of the local Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post 532 in Columbus. Bob is survived by his sister, Mary Bracey of Tracy, CA and nieces, Beverly, Pat, and Mary Ann; nephews, Jim, Keith, and Steve, all of CA; brother, George (Margaret) Kern of Naples, FL, and niece, Kelly (Jeff) Erdy; nephews, Keith (Gala) Kern, and George Jr. (Mechelle) Kern; 3 great nephews, Dustin, Dallas, and Tyler Kern; a great great nephew, Little Dustin; and special friend Judy Hemphill and her family. Friends may call Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 2:00PM-5:00PM at the SCHOEDINGER-NORRIS CHAPEL 3920 Broadway Grove City where the funeral service will be held Monday, May 17, 2010 at 10:00am.
