Bonnie Jean Ballou Rooney

Bonnie Jean (Ballou) Rooney, 90, passed into eternal rest on Friday, June 17, 2011 at her Circleville residence. Preceded in death by husband Arthur S. Rooney, parents Eugene Allen & Billy Edith (Woods) Ballou and brothers, William E. and Theodore O. Ballou. Survived by children Sean J., Nora A. Manson (Bob), Terrence J., Brian J. (April), Timothy J. (Sherry) and Liam R. (Penny) Rooney; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and very special family friend Pat Stumbo.

Bonnie was born Sept 21, 1920 in Independence, KS. She graduated from Circleville High School in 1938 and married Arthur Rooney Oct 11, 1941 in Springfield, OH. Bonnie raised six children, was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and retired from Berger Hospital in 1982.

Calling hours at the Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral home (151 E. Main St) will be on Tuesday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30pm. All are welcome to participate in the Wake.

A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by the Rev. Fr. Stephen Krile, will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at St Joseph’s Catholic Church (134 W. Mound St). Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery (1145 N. Court St.). A bereavement luncheon will follow in the church basement.
