Brandy Workman

Brandy Samantha Workman passed away at the age of 39 on July 9th 2025 at the Ohio State University Hospital. Brandy was a lovingly chaotic soul. She spent her life caring for others like it was her mission. Starting at a young age caring for her sick mother who suffered from substance abuse, to later caring for other children as a daycare teacher, to being the mother figure of her friend groups. Her one wish in life was to be a mother to a child of her own. While her own body would not allow her to conceive a child, she spent her life caring for all living things on this planet as if they were her children. Going as far on one occasion to bring a dying squirrel which had been dropped onto her by a hawk into her home and giving it CPR to try to save its life. Five years ago she found a family to call hers in her fiancé Robert Grimes who she shared her cat Ivar and two amazing ferrets with to create their own loving family. While Brandy enjoyed the slow life, cuddling on the couch for movies, bonfires and music in the backyard, playing cat with Ivar, and exploring nature she was also a constant enigma always pushing herself to do the things she wanted but could not. She loved fishing and catching one would bring the biggest most beautiful smile to her face, but she could not bring herself to touch the fish. She loved to garden and tend to her plants, but a green thumb she did not have as even window basil would perish under her care. She loved to travel, see new things and meet new and interesting people, driving scared her and flying was never an option as the journey was more important than the destination. She would call a friend to vent her frustration but in return let them vent to her about their problems. As her soul sister once said “Brandy cannot be explained in words. She is an experience you had to be there to understand and if you were she left a mark on your heart that will never be forgotten.” Brandy was loved by many and will be missed by all those she left a mark on. Some of her final words were “Don’t cry for me, live happy so I can rest easy.” Even in the end she cared more for others than herself.

Brandy is preceded in death by her Mother: Mary Lou Workman (Kanode), Brother; Paul W Farleigh, Brother: Kevin Workman and her Grandparents Ruth and Edward Kanode. She is survived by her sister Cassidee Wells, fiancé Robert Grimes, Sister at heart Carla Hoover.

A visitation will be held at Advantage by Hilltop located on 3030 W. Broad Street
