I first met Brenda at a rec center basketball game. I was coaching the Far East rec center team, but also scouting talent for my AAU squad. A team ran out on the court and had a girl that was so tall (Kayla), I immediately had to know who she was and where her parents were. When 1st talking to Brenda that day, I don't think she was impressed. She had concern with Kayla playing on a team with a random person she met at a rec center game. She also thought Kayla was too young to focus on just one sport. However, with continued persistence, she allowed Kayla to play. 

I owe a great deal to Brenda. She trusted us with her baby girl so many years ago. Brenda was such a wonderful person and the Lutsch family became family very quickly. We will always hold a special place in our hearts for them. 

We are truly saddened by Brenda's passing and continue to pray for John, Kayla, Joel, and family. May God be with you all.

I first became acquainted with John and Brenda because Kayla and Joel were students of mine at Tree of Life Christian Schools. Several years later when we were looking for a new church home, Brenda was the first person we saw when we walked into The Well, then called North Alliance Church. We instantly felt at home. I remember Brenda in the kitchen, always part of the team to cook and clean up. She also attended a women's group, when she could, that I attended, too. We will miss her! Our prayers continue for family and friends, though we know she is walking and leaping and praising God as she is with Jesus. May you all experience the comfort of God in such abundance that you have leftover to share with others.

John, Kayla and Joel, I was privileged to work with Brenda for many years before I retired a few years ago.   We had lots of great conversations about all of you, her grandkids, her fun loving long-term friends and your many adventures together.  What great memories you must all have.
     On the work side of her life, I believe that all of us who worked with Brenda are better people for knowing her.  She was a great nurse and a leader who respected and cared about her staff.  She had a precise moral compass and an incredible work ethic -  her guiding principle was to always ”do the right thing”.  She never faked it- it was just who she was in every encounter. What a gift.
      I see that you have asked that donations be sent to the Faith Mission in her memory- that is a fitting memorial for Brenda who gave so much of herself to others.   I am very grateful for knowing Brenda.  I will miss her.  I pray that you find peace through your faith and your everlasting memories of her.      Mary Jane Gerhardstein

I was so blessed to know Brenda. She invested so much in serving children and families in their most vulnerable moments.  She always welcomed my visits when I popped into her office.  We would talk about our families (our daughters knew one another), sports, and our mutual Christian faith - and sometimes work :).  She trusted that God would take care of her and those she loved.  I am quite confident that at this moment she knows that her trust was not misplaced.

I still cannot believe I am writing a memory for a woman who had so much life yet to live. But knowing Brenda and her strong faith, God needed her now as he always has a plan and Brenda knew that more than anyone.  I was so blessed to work with her for almost 20 years, travel with her and be her friend. She was a kind woman and was always fair to everyone. She was a great leader in her role at work and was a strong and supportive mother and wife. But her gentle side was soft and caring as she would often share stories about her children and grandchildren and how John would bring her tea to her every single morning and the appreciation she had for that kind act.  I was blessed to have had the opportunity to know her and my heart hurts for you all (John, Kayla, Christopher, Joel and Lacey and her three beautiful grandsons) as I know she will truly be missed, but never, never forgotten.

Over the fifteen years I have worked at Nationwide Children's Hospital, both as a social worker, then as a manager, my path crossed Brenda's from time to time. Brenda would always stop to chat, offer a smile. Brenda was devoted to her discharge planning team, ready to advocate for and support them at every opportunity. I think of how many patients' lives Brenda impacted in her career, as a nurse and manager, through direct care or managerial decisions. Her legacy, in addition to her husband, children, and  grandsons, will live on through thousands of patients whose care she impacted. She was quite a woman. I'm so sorry for the grief being felt by everyone who loved her. You are all in my heart.

Sending love and condolences to Brenda’s husband, children and family and friends.  I worked with Brenda in small ways over the years until she became my manager last year.  Brenda was a compassionate loving woman who loved life.  May the many happy memories comfort us.

Praying that as you remember your sweet mother and wife that God will pour out His love and hope as you celebrate your wonderful memories of her...she was a special person, so  aware of others and, whenever we talked, her interest and care for us was so apparent.  May the Lord keep you all as you walk through these difficult days.

I was lucky to get to know and work with Brenda over the past 10 years.  She was quiet in her help and compassion with others.  She lived her life led by her faith and she stopped to help absolutely anyone in need.  We became aware of one of those quiet acts of service for a visitor in need and nominated her for the Daisy Award.  Brenda was a great friend, cared about patients and the staff who worked with her.  And Brenda LOVED her family!  I have met none of them in person but feel like I've known them.  She loved talking abouts her kids and their adventures, her grandkids, and her husband! We've heard about the camping trips, the cruises, and her plans for the next adventure.  Brenda was always thinking about the next adventure with her family!
And finally, Brenda was a generous friend, willing to offer grace and move on focused on doing the right thing.
