Brenda Ann McWilliams

Brenda Ann (Chapman) McWilliams, age 63, of Columbus went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 6, 2017 after a long and difficult battle with lung disease. Brenda was born in Huntington, WV on September 27, 1953 to Herbert and Alma (Edmunds) Chapman, and she was the youngest of four girls. She was blessed to grow up with the love of her life and soulmate, William "Bill" McWilliams. They were married on November 21, 1970 and went on to have five children. Brenda loved having a house full of children, and was blessed to raise hers along with two nephews and a niece. She loved feeding her family and any other visitors she had, and she frequently did so by making her mouth-watering fried chicken. Brenda had special skills when it came to shopping as well. She could out shop anyone and was able to search out the best deals everywhere she went. She loved laughing and loved her dog, Gertie. But more than anything, she loved her family and she loved the Lord. Brenda is survived by her husband, William "Bill" McWilliams; children, Shannan (Tina) McWilliams, Nathan (Crystal) McWilliams, Joshua (Amanda) McWilliams, and Natasha (Jamie) Kern; nephews and niece, Travis Myers, Justin Myers, and Lashonda (Andy) Orrell; sisters Gladys Cotton and Maxine (Corky) Wallace; ten grandchildren, and five great nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Shawn Dale McWilliams; parents, Herbert and Alma Edmunds Chapman; and sister, Ninita Myers. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, March 13, 2017 at Gahanna Freewill Baptist Church, 3868 N. Stygler Rd, Columbus, Ohio with Pastor Curtis Booth officiating. The family will greet friends at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 East Johnstown Rd, Gahanna 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday, March 12, 2017 and at the church from 10-11 am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brenda's honor to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org.
