Calvin Lewis Berkey

A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Barbara; his children: Calvin (Karen) Berkey, Jr., Tim (Freda) Berkey, and daughter, Sue (Joe) Palmore; grandchildren Tawnya (Jon) Ewert, Shelly Berkey, Shane Berkey, Kevin Palmore and Scott Palmore; great-grandchildren Sierra, Shawn, Jared and Sydney; his brother Cecil (Maggie) Berkey and their family. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Trent Berkey.

He was a member of the Village Baptist Church in Whitehall. As the owner and operator, of C&B Car Wash and Service Center in Gahanna, located at the corner of Morrison and Hamilton Roads, he served the local community for 41 years. His greatest joy was acting as the neighborhood Santa Clause during the holidays. He and his wife Barbara, dressed as Santa and Mrs. Clause, and passed out candy to the children and families that would visit them as they stood outside of their holiday lit home.

Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, where the Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
