

Carl E. Shaffer, born in Horse Shoe Run, WV on September 27, 1935 passed away in London, OH on November 25, 2015. He was the son of Carl W. and Ruth A. Shaffer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet on September 1, 2004 and brother, Glenn. He is survived by sisters, Erma Heis of Arthurdale, WV, and Carolyn (Darrell) Rhoades, of Uniontown, OH. After graduating from Aurora High School in 1953 he was working on a farm in New Jersey when he got polio on October 15, 1954. He went to Warm Springs, GA for rehab, returning to the rehabilitation center in Institute, WV where he met his wife. After marriage on December 23, 1956 they traveled to Akron, OH for employment. Carl is also survived by nieces and nephews; Neil E. Roth, Richard (Tatyana) Heis, Debra (John) Payne, James (Donna) Heis, special friends; Kathy (Butch) Myers and daughters, Debbie (Dave) Anderson and daughter, Robert (April) Fulton and children, Dan (Melanie) Doudna and children, Dennis (Heidi) Wotring, and Stephanie Krznarich. Carl loved to hunt, fish, mow his and the neighbor’s yard on his John Deere mower. He loved to send cards to all he came in contact with. Visitation will be held for Carl on Saturday November 28, 2015 from 2-4pm at the Southwest Grace Brethren Church, where Carl was a member, 3989 Neff Rd Grove City, OH 43123 with a funeral service following at 4pm. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Shady Grove Cemetery in Bruceton Mills, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Aurora Area Historical Society P.O.
