Carmen Ator, age 86, of Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Ohio Living Westminster Thurber. She grew up in West Virginia and met her first husband, Louis, at Marietta College. They had two children together, Louis, Jr. and Carol Louise. Carmen finished her academic education at OSU and taught English and Theater in public schools for 20 years. Carmen and Malcolm Ator were married in 1985. He died in 2018. Primary family in Carmen's life included, Richard Buckalew, her grandson; Debbi Saas, her daughter by mutual love; and the Janosy family, beloved friends. "Have hearts that are joined by common care. Life's joys and sorrow they gladly share:" A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 10:00AM at HEART AND HOPE BY SCHOEDINGER, 3030 West Broad St. Columbus, Ohio 43204. Pastor Mark Arni officiating. Inurnment will take place at Union Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio at a later date.
