Carol Finkes Schlotterer, former teacher at Maumee Valley Country Day School in Toledo as well as entrepreneur and owner of CandJ Final Phase and The Bait Store (Dublin), passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at age 79. Carol previously lived in Fremont and later in Dublin; however, her most recent address was at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville following a 2001 conviction and sentence.
Her accomplishments and achievements were many, and her commitment to helping others continued throughout her incarceration as she taught countless inmates to knit and crochet, helping to coordinate over 250 sets of mittens and scarves each year to be donated on behalf of the prison to the Warm Up America program.
Carol is survived by her four children: David (Patricia) Finkes; Tonya (Rick) Pamatian; John (Cheryl) Schlotterer; and Josephine (Andy) Wynn; as well as 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; plus countless others, whose lives she touched, knew, loved, admired, and respected her.
