

Caroline is survived by her husband of sixty-six years Gaylord Lee Whitney, and was the mother of four children: son Christopher (deceased) and daughters Lenore Parsons and twins Andrea Wei and Meredith Gabriel, and the great favorite of a beloved extended family including Lynn Roose III, Sean and Stephanie Roose, Dan Parsons, Tom Wei, Jordan Wei, Jeremy Wei, Derek and Sophie Wei, Jeff and Gus Gabriel, Max Gabriel (deceased), Lily and George Mathews, plus great/daughters Rowan and Isla Roose.
Caroline was a native of and attended schools in Chicago and later Mount Prospect, Illinois, where she lived with her parents Michael and Josephine Slazas and her younger sister, Barbara. Caroline also attended classes at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in the late 1950s where she met her future husband Gaylord.
Caroline resided at the family home near Hilliard, Ohio for sixty-three years. As a Navy wife Caroline had temporary residences in Arlington, Virginia and Ford Island, Hawaii before returning to the mainland and settling in Ohio. She had a 32-year employment career at Ohio State University, mostly with its School of Music where she retired the Assistant to the School's Dean.
One of her great interests over the years was Dog Obedience training, in which she was quite successful winning many competitive awards with her beloved Standard Poodles, German Shepherds, Dalmations and Australian Kelpies. She loved traveling, particularly ocean and river cruises in Europe, the Hawaiian Islands, and her great favorite, New Zealand. Caroline was also an occasional but expert equestrian. She was renowned for her charm and ready-to-go enthusiasm, and admired for her beautiful flower gardens each year. She is irreplaceable.
Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, where a visitation will follow until 4 PM.
