

Carolyn Faye (Dearth) Young passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born June 25, 1928 in Greenfield, Ohio to the late Samuel F. and Erma Louise (Shasteen) Dearth. Her father was a lifelong farmer and her mother a homemaker of Pickaway County. Carolyn graduated from Pickaway Township HS in 1946. She served as treasurer of her class, was a cheerleader and had a passion for art. Carolyn married Robert Brice Young, the love of her life, on November 29, 1947. She was employed at JC Penny's as a window dresser for more than 20 years. Carolyn was a homemaker and her husband was a long time farmer and school bus driver for Pickaway Township Schools and Logan Elm. She was an active member of Emmett Chapel Church in her younger years, 4-H advisor, member of child advancement club, and president of Pickaway Township PTO and Logan Elm Booster club. Her interests included loving her family, gardening, reading and music. Carolyn was an excellent seamstress and made most of her daughters' clothing throughout the years. She was also very active in the Roundtown Players and performed in many plays and directed a few. Bird watching was a favorite pastime and she had many cat guests that ended up permanent residents at the farm. Along with her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert and her son-in-law Jack J. Jenkins. She is survived by her daughters, Judy K. (Frank) Vavroch (Myrtle Beach, SC) and Deborah J. Jenkins (Circleville, OH); sister, partner in mischief and SCRABBLE buddy, Bonnie Hildenbrand; grandchildren, Shannon K. (Rusty) Ferguson (Zanesville, OH), Justin R. (Lisa) Jenkins (Circleville, OH), Kyle J. (Courtney) Jenkins (Atlanta, GA); great-grandchildren, Joe M. Ferguson (Zanesville, OH), Jenna M. Ferguson (Zanesville, OH), Ryan P. Jenkins (Circleville, OH) and Ella C. Jenkins (Circleville, OH); great-great-grandchildren, Amelia K. Ferguson (Zanesville, OH) and Ronan A. Jenkins (Atlanta, GA). Carolyn also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who helped her throughout her life. Family will receive friends Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 3-7 PM at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home 151 E. Main St., Circleville. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, September 7, 2018 at the funeral home with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Berger Hospice Care, who took great care of her, and the American Cancer Society. Carolyn will be remembered as one of the last remaining true ladies.
