Cathy Pope

Cathy Pope, of Whitehall, Ohio was born July 11, 1973, in Columbus, Ohio, to Rich and Cheryl (Harding) Pope of Whitehall, Ohio. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of joy, love, and light. She is now joining many angels who went before her, waiting to welcome her home.

Cathy lived a life full of remarkable achievements and heartfelt moments. She proudly earned a gold medal in gymnastics floor exercise at the International Special Olympics Summer Games in August 1991 and also participated in the Ohio Special Olympics. She made history as the first special needs student in Whitehall Schools and graduated in 1995 from Franklin County NE School.

Cathy found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved coloring, bowling, music, singing, and dancing. Her bright spirit and joyful energy made her truly unforgettable—she was, in every sense, pure sunshine. Her smile could light up a room, and her laughter brought comfort and happiness to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving parents, Rich and Cheryl Pope; her brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Lori Pope; her cherished nieces and nephews, Sarah, Crystal, Danielle, Dominic, and Bayla; and her many great-nieces and great-nephews, Eli, Ethyn, Jace, Kasen, Kahlani, Haizley, Ashton, May, Wyatt, RJ, Conrad, Noah, Luke, and Tateum. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a community of friends who will miss her dearly.

The family extends a special thank you to the many devoted caregivers who supported Cathy with love and compassion throughout her life.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., the time of service, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232.

Cathy will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
