

Dr. Gouke served in the U.S. Army and received his B.A. and M.A. from City College of New York and his Ph.D. from NYU. He was an Economic Professor at OSU where he counseled many African American students from the 70’s-90’s. His research of developing countries took him around the world, including Africa and the Caribbean Islands. Dr. Gouke was a member of Phi Beta Sigma and an active member of St. Philip Episcopal Church, where he generously gave of his time and talent serving as Sunday School Teacher and Eucharistic Lay Reader. He was a dedicated husband, father, and teacher, and will be fondly remembered for his humor and the grace in which he taught.
Dr. Gouke will be missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary; son, Cecil G. “Chip” Gouke, Jr. and his wife, Jolie; twin grandsons, Alexander and Nicholas; extended family, and loving friends, including James Adams, Anthony Andrews, Dr. William (Nannette) Reynolds, and Dr. Mac (Tina) Stewart.
Memorial Service 1 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at St. Philip Episcopal Church, 166 Woodland Ave. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the start of the service. Father Karl Ruttan, Officiant. Phi Beta Sigma tribute at 12:45 p.m. Interment Union Cemetery.
