

Charles Walter Askew, age 81, departed Sunset on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Riverside Hospital. Charles was born at Sunrise on January 15, 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama to the beautiful Eleanor Kingsley and Charles Askew Sr. Charles was a graduate of Ohio University with degrees in Sociology and French. He retired from the State Of Ohio. Charles, loved traveling whether it was through the Blue Ridge Mountains by train or by plane to Paris. His love for the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and the Blue Jacket was the unparalleled. Charles is survived by his wife, Marsha Marshall, his son, King, his niece, Allegra Spencer and his brother Allan. He will be fondly remembered as "Papa" by his Godchildren who include Shannon, Charod, Laticsha, Lanita, Donald, Dominique, Cameron and Doug just to name a few. A special thanks to our friend, Bob Parks. Charles just loved talking hockey with you ! Also to our friends Diva Holliman and Laticsha Cooper, Hope Brewster and Kim Green. He always saw the possibilities in us all .....how he thought we could do no wrong baffles me still ......
Family will received friends from 10:30 am until his memorial service at 11:00 am at Heart and Hope Funeral Home by Schoedinger, 2741 Cleveland Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43224.
Charles generosity could not go unnoticed ! He did it big.
