

Chuck Barker, 79, died February 28, 2017. Born April 12, 1937 to Winifred and Clinton Barker in Columbus. Raised in Clintonville, graduated from North High School. Served in the US Army Reserves, Combat Engineers. Graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS, Bus. Adm. Industrial Management. Member of The Ohio State Chapter of Triangle Fraternity. Enjoyed flying gliders on the old Don Scott field with Buckeye Glider Club. Entered employment with Cummins Engine Company of Columbus, Indiana, progressing through management ranks to Manager of Assembly and Test. Graduated from Butler University, Indianapolis, IN, with an MBA degree. Appointed Plant Manager of the Metal Forge Company satellite manufacturing plant in Deshler, OH. Was called to the company's headquarters in Columbus, OH, to become Director of Materials. Past President of the Deshler Lions Club. Married in 1960 to Marilyn Ogilbee of Belmont, OH, after a courtship that began when Chuck sent her a letter from his Army post at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, in 1957. Long time members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Marble Cliff, OH, Marilyn and Chuck served as co-coordinators in the Interfaith Hospitality Network. Chuck was a Stephen Minister. He loved to travel worldwide: A mission trip to International Child Care's Grace Children's Hospital in Haiti; visited the Holy Land in Israel twice; visited Apostle Paul's churches around the Aegean Sea; visited China, the birthland of his granddaughters; visited Lithuania, homeland of daughter-in-law; Europe; the American West; Alaska; and a driving trip from London, England, to St. Andrews, Scotland, where he played golf on the Old Course. Chuck loved to invest in the stock market, becoming the central Ohio group leader for VectorVest investment software users. He enjoyed accompanying veterans to Washington, D.C. with Honor Flight. Survived by wife of 57 years, Marilyn; daughter Lisa, sons Brian (Pat) and Clint (Laura), grandchildren Cole, Lily, Grace, Mason and Aras. Survived by sisters Alice (Jonas) Hoover and Karen (Larry) Shaw. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Trish (Mike Willits) Walz. Family will receive friends from 4-7 P.M. Friday, March 3, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd. Rev. Wade Giffin officiating. Interment Union Cemetery.
