Charles Lee Buzy, age 70, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026. He was born on January 23, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio to George and Patricia Buzby. He is survived by his twin sister, Cheryll (Victor) Golowin and sister Linda (Tom) Pierce, along with his niece, Susan (Michael) Stingo and son, Roman, and nephew, Scott (Bess) Golowin, his best friends Brian and Dee Thompson, along with extended family in Florida. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, George W. and Patricia A. Buzby and stepbrother, George Wm. (Gail) Buzby.
He had a good life filled with many accomplishments. When he was only 16 years old, he wanted to better himself, so he started a Citizen-Journal newspaper route using bicycle with a total of 70 customers! He won a trip to Coney Island, a phonograph, tape recorder and a watch in contests. He was a citizen- journal newspaper carrier for a little over a year and his earnings went into a savings account.
After graduating from Mifflin High School in 1974, he joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1974 to 1976 aboard the U.S.S. Ouelette – FF – 1077, and from 1976 to 1978 aboard the U.S.S. Gray – FF – 1054. He loved serving his country and and was so proud and honored to do that, and it meant a lot to him. He also studied and got a Journeyperson – Plumber Contractors License; Third Class Steam Engineers License; Firestand Pipe & Sprinkler Installation & Testing License. He retired after 30 years with the Columbus City Schools Maintenance Dept. with 4 of those years as a Boiler Operator and 26 years as a plumber. He had wanted to become a pilot but found out he was color blind.
His family and friends loved him deeply and he loved them. His family was very important to him, and he loved getting together with them every year for Christmas. He also had a great love for animals, especially dogs, but one time he fell in love with a stray cat that came around to his house and he fed it, but it sadly passed away and it really upset him. Many of his neighbors had dogs and he just loved giving them treats, along with his best friends, Brian and Dee, who had dogs too. He gave to many charities for many years. He helped his family and others in any way he could. Always gave a cheery smile to everyone he met. He loved thrift shopping and collecting collectibles, playing with his gas-powered remote-control cars/trucks, drawing/sketching, painting, photography, wood burning kits, tinkering, bachelor style cooking/baking, gardening, shopping, watching TV and especially watching THE Ohio State Buckeyes Football games! He was just an amazing man in so many ways and will be deeply missed by all of us who know him and loved him.
