Charles L. “Josh” Gille, age 83, of Upper Arlington, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home with family by his side. He was born April 12, 1930 in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of the late Lloyd and Marie Gille. He graduated from East Liverpool High School, Ohio University, and was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers as a 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War. Josh retired as a District Manager after 36 years of service at AT&T. He served on boards and committees including Rockwell Springs Trout Club, Northwest Kiwanis Club, Upper Arlington Civic Association – Chairman of the Antique Car division of the UA Fourth of July parade for over 30 years. Josh was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed his pre-war train collection. Josh was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn (Altman); children, Susan Gille (Phil) Miller, Jay Charles (Diana Lippencott) Gille, all of McDonough, GA and Janet Gille (David) Denison of Portland, ME; his grandchildren, Ally Gille, Georgia Denison, Julia Miller, Joel Denison; step-grandchildren, Amanda Miller (Joe) DeFuria and Ryan Miller; sister, Nadine Gilbert, Columbus; other relatives and many friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2151 Dorset Road. The Reverend Paul St. Germain officiating. The family will greet friends after 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Following the service, there will be a reception at the church where everyone is invited. Private interment.
