

Charles David Saikas Sr, age 84 passed away January 1st, 2017. He was born to John Saikas and Josephine Mabe on December 3, 1932. Survived by wife Joanne Saikas of 65 years,daughters Cheryl (Doug) Mount of Westerville and Debbie (Mike) Knapp of Sunbury, pre-deceased by son Charles Saikas Jr. Also survived by step brothers Stu Root and Jerry Root, brother in law Phil Porter and sister-in-law Jeanne Pfaltzgraf and daughter-in-law Linda Saikas. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Chuck was a Navy veteran from the Korean War. He was an Aviation Structural Mechanic Third Class when discharged and a member of the American Legion,Post 239 and the VFW. He grew up and went to school in Columbus Ohio and attended Franklin University after serving 4 years in the Navy. He was stationed in Jacksonville Florida and Millington Tennessee. After raising his family,Chuck and Jo retired to Milledgeville Georgia where he fulfilled his passion for boating, fishing and water skiing on Lake Sinclair. After 11years they moved to Pompano Beach Florida overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, splitting their time between Florida and Powell Ohio. They moved to The Inn at Bear Trail in Lewis Center Ohio September 2016.
Chuck loved all sports, hunting, skeet shooting, dancing and was his son's baseball coach for many years. He touched the hearts of everyone he crossed paths with. His generosity, kindness and caring manner will be his ever lasting legacy. May the Lord keep you in the palm of his hands and bless you as you have blessed us and so many others.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Schoedinger Funeral Home,6699 N. High St, Worthington OH 43085. Showing Tuesday Jan 3rd from 3-6 PM and Wednesday Jan 4th at noon with funeral following at 1 PM. Final resting place will be at Kingwood Memorial Park with a military service.
