

Charles William Whitfield, Jr, born December 21,1938 in Chickasha, OK passed away March 21, 2020 in Columbus, OH. He was born to Charles William Whitfield, Sr. and Audra Delight (Jermain) Whitfield. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister June Whitfield.
A graduate of Cyril High School, OK, class of 1956, he went on to attend Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology, Okmulgee, OK and obtained a Certificate in Drafting and Mechanical Design in 1960. He was employed at Halliburton Services in the Special Products Division for 38 years. Charles was a member of the First Christian Church, Duncan, OK, for over 50 years.
His hobbies included fishing, golfing, sailing on Lake Murray and Lake Texoma with his family, woodworking, and studying genealogy. He received his Commercial Pilot License and accumulated 800 hours of flight time. He attended EAA AirVenture Oshkosh for 25 consecutive years. An avid gun collector and pistol shooter, he was a Distinguished Pistol Marksman, and a member of Oklahoma Pistol Team. He also loved listening to music. His latest interest was Andre Rieu and his orchestra.
Growing up, Lori and Angela remember many fun family vacations taking them all over the country and sailing trips to many state lakes and Tampa Bay, Florida.
He was very proud of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with each of them, including the special time he spent with his only grandson, Andy on the shooting range.
He was the best dad and he loved his family, who are left to mourn his loss and include his wife Colleen Kay (Detter) Whitfield; children Lori Lynn (Paul) McClaskey of New Albany, OH, Angela Diane (Devin) Giddens of Oklahoma City, OK; Grandchildren Lauren Ashley (David) Payne of Princeton, TX, Andrew Paul (Kristen) McClaskey of Melbourne, FL, Elisabeth Brooke (Justin) Wenning of Columbus, OH, Madeline Paige Giddens of Lewisville, TX, and Margo Jillian Giddens of Los Angeles, CA; great grandchildren Brayden Lahoya, Gavin Charles, Emmalynn Grace, and Caroline Nora Payne all of Princeton, TX and Adeline Kay, Kaleb Paul, and Baby Girl McClaskey due in July 2020 all of Melbourne, FL; William "Liam" Giddens Sullivan of Lewisville, TX; great grandchildren yet to be; siblings Juanita (Sid) Hicks of Tulsa, OK, and Pat (Sam) Brandon of Flora, IL; best friend of 78 years, Vernon Carl "Bootsy" Melton of Adair, OK; many nieces and nephews.
