Corazon Dones Lamorena

Corazon “Cory” Dones Lamorena, 84, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Lamorena; her parents, Amanda Malabanan and Valentin V. Dones; and four brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosa Gaerlan; her stepdaughters, Evelyn, Marie Ellen, and Antoinette; her grandchildren, Dakota Huff and Kei Huff; and her granddaughter-in-law, Ashley Huff.

Cory was born in Binangonan, Rizal, Philippines, and grew up in Manila. She was a graduate of Binangonan Catholic High School and an alumna of the University of the East. She worked for several maritime personnel agencies before starting her own business. Cory lovingly cared for many relatives and loved ones before immigrating to the United States in 2000 to help care for her grandchildren. She had lived in Central Ohio since that time.

Cory loved gardening and spent countless hours caring for her plants and flowers, which brought her so much joy. She frequently visited the Worthington Rec Center, where she became a familiar face to many. Cory found happiness in caring for her family, preparing meals for loved ones, spending time with her grandchildren, and staying connected with relatives and friends in both the Philippines and the United States. Her kindness, generosity, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Mausoleum Chapel of Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 N. High St., Lewis Center, OH 43035, on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.
