Corey Aaron Rutherford

Corey Aaron Rutherford, age 38, died unexpectedly Monday, May 2, 2016. He was born June 16, 1977 in Columbus, Ohio and is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack C. Miller and Donald L. Rutherford; and uncles, Jack C. Miller II and Dr. Eric T. Rutherford. Corey is survived by his parents, Bruce N. and Becky (Miller) Rutherford; sister, Veronica "Roni" (Joe) Redmond; twin sister, Vanessa Rutherford (Michael Matalka); girlfriend, Laura Silcott and her daughters, Skylar and Raine; grandmothers, Rita J. Miller, Gail Rutherford, and Carol A. Miller; uncles, Gene Rutherford, Jerry (Lorie) Rutherford, and Stephen M. Miller (Richelle); aunt, Candy Miller; nephew, Bryce Redmond; nieces, Ariana, and Alyssa Redmond and Maggie Matalka; numerous cousins and friends. Corey attended both Gahanna and DeSales High Schools. He was Service Director at Sizzle Marine for 16 years. His smiling face will be deeply missed by his customers and the Sizzle family. Corey loved playing his guitar; video games; his dog, Oso; and everything Star Wars. He was a fan of the Buckeyes, University of Cincinnati Basketball, and Denver Broncos. He touched the lives of many with his kindness and big heart and will be forever loved and missed. "NEITHER BY CHANCE NOR FATE." Friends may call 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna where the Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 10. Pastor Bob Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Headley Cemetery.
