Craig A. Tennenbaum

Craig Tennenbaum, 56, passed away leaving behind a legacy marked by his loving energy, big heart, and an unforgettable, room-brightening smile. He is frequently described by those who knew him as simply the best human being and a remarkably loving soul, who made everyone around him feel better about themselves. Everyone who met him inevitably mentions his bright, constant smile and his legendary embraces; he was, without question, the absolute best hugger.

Craig earned both his Bachelor of Science in Computer & Information Science and his Master of Science in Engineering/Industrial Management from The Ohio State University. It was in the campus computer lab that Craig met the love of his life, Nanette "Nan". Their first date was a toga party—Craig famously brought along two togas, just in case the idea didn't fly. From that night on, it was meant to be. Their partnership was founded on devotion, shared laughter, and a lifetime of beautiful memories. Craig’s love for Nan was evident to everyone who knew them, serving as a beautiful example of true partnership.

Craig was preceded in death by his father, James Tennenbaum. In addition to his beloved wife, Nan, he is survived by his mother, Carole Tennenbaum. He also leaves behind his siblings, Chuck Tennenbaum (Cathy), William Tennenbaum (Stacy), and Ginny Schlonsky (Mike); his brother-in-law, Nick LaDow (Beth); and his nine nieces and nephews: Sharon LaDow, Joseph Tennenbaum, Jordan Tennenbaum, Lauren Tennenbaum, James Tennenbaum, Jennifer Tennenbaum, Sari Schlonsky, Tyler Schlonsky, and Jake Schlonsky.

Craig's heart was so large that his family extended far beyond bloodlines. Over the years, countless children were drawn to his playful spirit and loving soul, proudly becoming his honorary nieces and nephews.

He went on to build a distinguished 27-year career as an engineer with Ashland Chemical, where his dedication and expertise earned him the deep respect of his colleagues.

An athlete and creator at heart, Craig spent years on the soccer fields and volleyball courts, mastering the sports and cherishing the friendships made through teamwork. During his college years, he actively participated in the Strollers Theatre Group and played various intramural sports, including flag football, soccer, and softball. Always eager for a new challenge, he recently fell in love with pickleball, bringing his signature enthusiasm and competitive, yet joyful, spirit to the courts.

Craig also shared a deep love for dogs. He could often be found right down on the floor, giving undivided attention, belly rubs, and affection to any dog in the room. Whenever he saw an opportunity to volunteer with different rescue groups, he was eager to help out.

Craig and Nan loved exploring the world together, embarking on countless amazing adventures across the globe.

Often found wearing his favorite "Life is Good" t-shirts, Craig truly lived by those words every single day. His warmth, generosity, and vibrant optimism touched everyone he met. Though he will be deeply missed, his bright smile, endless capacity for love, and the joy he brought into every room will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
