

Crystal Sophia Corbitt was born on June 17th, 1967 to Ms. Joann Corbitt and Mr. Leon Harvell at The Kings County Hospital, in Brooklyn NY. Crystal was also blessed to have had the guidance of Mr. Thomas Goodwin Sr. her stepfather. In her early years, Crystal lived in Red Hook Brooklyn, a community where she met most of her childhood friends. Although she lived in other areas of Brooklyn NY, she was whole heartedly committed to the Red Hook Community and returned as often as she could to visit and celebrate various events with family and friends. Crystal began her education at P.S. 27 in Red Hook, she later attended and graduated from Middle School I.S 88 and John Jay High School both located in Park Slope Brooklyn. She entered the workforce caring for others as a Home Health Aide, she also worked for the Census Bureau and New York and Company as a Customer Service Representative.
In 2011, Crystal relocated from Brooklyn, NY to Columbus, Ohio seeking to provide a better quality of life for her family. During her residency in Columbus Ohio, she was employed as a Customer Service Representative for various companies such as The Dish Network and ContactUS LLC. Crystal enrolled and attended the Fortis School of Nursing to pursue her passion in the medical field. She enjoyed being a Paparazzi Consultant, for her own costume jewelry business "Crystal's Radiant Jewels."
During her life, Crystal helped many by providing temporary housing to those in need. She was a Founding member and Organizer for Daughters of Judah Inc., she hosted and attended Life Group Services under the leadership of Pastor Darcelle Ferguson. Crystal joined her home church, The Park Slope Christian Fellowship in Brooklyn in her early twenties and continued her membership under the leadership of Archbishop Roberto R. Brown and Lady Lurlene Brown.
On February 17th, 2021, Crystal was called to her final rest but not before sharing her love and laughter with those who remain. Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Christopher Corbitt and David Mathis, her daughter Diamond Mierez and companion of over twenty years Andrew Mierez, sister Michelle Goodwin and brother Hezekiah Thomas Goodwin, her niece Dominque Goodwin and nephew Solomon Goodwin; grandchildren, Zhymylah Dockery, Davayide Mathis, Davion Mathis and Amileah Latondres. Crystal Sophia Corbitt's life was full of family and friends that will forever hold her dearly in their hearts and memories. We will all miss her presence as she sleeps in sweet rest!

Crystal's family will be celebrating her life on March 5, 2021 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus at 10am. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Officiant Elder Thania Williams.
