D. Wayne Young

D. Wayne Young, age 83, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2018 at home. He was born December 9, 1934 in Loudonville, Ohio, the 6th of 9 children born to Arthur and Bernice (Vernon) Young. He graduated from Columbus South High School, class of '54, served in the U.S. Army and retired from DCSC where he worked as a computer analyst. Wayne was an avid OSU football fan, but also cheered on the Browns, Cavs and Cardinals. His ideal day might include a walk in the park, a good book, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was welcoming to all kids! He'll also be remembered for his great sense of humor. Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Mary Catherine (Wood) Young; children Melanie Young (Ken Lashley) and Dwayne (Anne) Young; grandchildren, Marc, Amber, Madalyn, Lauren and Landon; brothers and sisters: Esther Edison, June Goethe, Chuck (Mary Alice), Dolly Hartung, Jim (Dee), Lois Butler and Bill (Lois); numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dick. Visitation will be held from 12-1pm Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230 with a service at 1pm; interment to follow at Mifflin Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn. in Wayne's memory.
