Dale Blake

He was born on June 14, 1936 in Columbus OH, to the late Ira and Alma (Miller) Blake. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brothers, Donald and Jerry Blake.

Dale’s career spanned across many years. His job with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. moved the family numerous times. The last family move was to Marion, OH where he managed the Courtesy Tire Store, and then the Anheuser-Busch warehouse in Waldo. Dale then worked for and retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Dale married the love of his life, Norma, and was happily married 53 years until her passing in 2008. He loved spending time with his wife at their post-retirement home in Apple Valley. There he enjoyed fishing, being on his pontoon boat, and spending time with his family and friends.

In his free time Dale loved to golf and play cards. More notably he would play Stick-N-Stuck for nickels and dimes (“holiday stakes” were dimes and quarters!). He had a passion for cars, his favorite being a 1983 white Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible with red leather interior seats. Dale will be remembered for his joking personality and the love he had for his family and friends.

Dale will be greatly missed by his two daughters; Tammy (Doug) Evans of Galena and Geri (Mark) Granger of Worthington; grandchildren, Mathew (Allison) Granger, Ryan (Karen) Granger, Sarah (Mike) Giesselbach, and Sydney Granger; great grandchildren, Shai Granger, Corey Granger, Sam Granger, John Granger, Ella Granger, Mason Giesselbach and Melody Granger; brother, Rick Blake; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service celebrating Dale’s life will be held at a later date the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High St., Worthington, OH, 43085.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Bickford Assisted Living and Memory Care in Worthington for the superior care and respect they showed Dale with every day for the past 15 months.
