After graduation he moved to Columbus, Ohio and started a job with Pearson where he worked for a decade before moving on in the higher education tech sales finally settling at Parchment where he concluded his professional career in a job he very much enjoyed. He is survived by his wife Beth of 15 years, and the joys of his life, his two children, Ethan (9), and Emerson (7). Dan is also survived by his sister, Kristen Desper and niece Rylee; mother-in-law, Karen Johnston; father-in-law, Mike (Debbie Palm) Johnston; brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Ashley Johnston and niece Claire; step mother, Tammy Robertson; step siblings; and several other family members who love him dearly.
Dan was an amazing husband and father, always putting his family first. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed building things, his yearly trips to Pawleys Island, SC, and doing things outdoors with his wife and kids. He always encouraged his children's education, and loved wrestling with them. He was an active member of Heritage Christian Church, involved with Night to Shine, and appreciated his friends from small group for all of their support. Dan was a kind and gentle man always willing to lend a hand. He will be greatly missed by his wife and kids and by all those that had the honor to know him.
Dan passed away at his home, as he desired, on February 24, 2020 while being held by his wife and children. He fought a five month battle with an aggressive type of stomach cancer. Despite our best efforts God decided to call him home in a very short amount of time. In spite of all of his sickness and pain Dan never gave up on his faith in God and is now in Heaven pain free and rejoicing with those who have gone before him. Until we meet again...
Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Northeast. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 6-8pm at Heritage Christian Church 7413 Maxtown Road, Westerville, OH 43082. In lieu of flowers, Dan has requested each family bring a new children's book that we will donate in his honor to a local charity and/or school in need. He wanted to be sure he did one last good deed, he was always very practical and thoughtful.
