

David H. Bliss, 73, of Columbus OH, passed away on May 1, 2015 after a long illness. He was born in Corning, NY in 1942 to Eleanor Black and David Kenneth Bliss. Mr. Bliss grew up in Lawrenceville, PA. He joined the Navy and for several years was stationed in Charleston, SC serving as the radioman on the U.S.S. Chewaucan, an oiler, in the Mediterranean. After discharge, he was a telegraph operator for Western Union and worked as a bartender in the Carlisle Hotel both in Sudbury, PA. He became a cross country trucker for TransCon and later short haul for CF. He retired in 2004. David was an avid motorcyclist and rode his Harley yearly for Jerry's Kids. His wife of 30 years, Dixie Ables predeceased him. He is survived by an aunt, Elizabeth Betty Gangemi, two sisters, Sharon Harrau of Stoughton, MA and Bonnie Harrau of Corning, NY. He had three children, Rhonda White Harris Charlie who also predeceases him and a grandson Douglas Chapman of Grove City; Shaleen Ables Downs, of Ashville and a son Mark Ables Teresa of Galloway and several grandchildren. Friends may call Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 5-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway. His ashes will rest with his beloved Dixie in Fernwood Cemetery.
