

David A Caborn, age 58, of Upper Arlington, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 24, 2016 following a brief courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 28, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Loren and Hedy (Sheilds) Caborn. David was one of the founding partners of the Caborn and Butauski Law Firm in 2001. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Leslie (Thorpe Sacks) Caborn; son, Joseph Caborn and daughter, Lucy Caborn. Also survived by his sister, Lauren Caborn (David) McCoy, Grapevine, TX; many nieces and nephews; good friend and law partner, Joe Butauski and many friends and colleagues. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Peter, Jon and Jeff Caborn. David was a 1976 graduate of Upper Arlington High School and received a Bachelor's degree in History from The Ohio State University. He received his Juris Doctorate from Capital University College of Law in 1985. David specialized in construction and insurance defense litigation and trial work. He was listed in "Best Lawyers in America" as one of the top lawyers in the state of Ohio for construction law and was a Board member of the Ohio Builders Association. He was a member of the OSBA, CBA and ABA and was named to the Columbus Bar Foundation. While David loved practicing law, above all, he was devoted to his family and his love for them was infinite. In the words of his son Joe, "He was my hero, my role model, and my family's rock. Though I'm utterly devastated by this loss, I take comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain, that his energy is still very much present within the universe, and that the love he gave all of us will be eternally reciprocated by God." A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL 1740 Zollinger Rd. where the family will receive friends after 1:00 pm Saturday until time of service.
