David Ross Patten

David Ross Patten, 53, was born in Houston, Texas on September 5, 1963 to Ray and Arvella Patten. His active life was cut short from complications after his third brain tumor surgery on Monday, October 10, 2016.

David graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School, attended The Ohio State University and was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He began his career as an assistant golf professional at Scioto Country Club, and transitioned into a career in commercial real estate sales, working for companies including Bellows & Associates, The Galbreath Company, Duke-Weeks, and most recently, Avison Young. In following a dream of owning his own business, he and friend started and successfully operated the Las Vegas J.D. Byrider franchise in the early 2000s in the middle of his real estate career.

David’s greatest accomplishments, however, center around his love of and dedication to his family and God. He is survived by his wife, Tracie Patten and two daughters, Mia and Ava. He lost his mother, Arvella, to complications from diabetes at a young age, and leaves his father and stepmother, Ray and Carol Patten. Other family members include: sister and brother-in-law, David & Susan Newton and niece Rachel Newton; Aunt Dee Hoffert; Kenny, Cindy & Nick Marvaso; Patty Patten-Tiffany and Patrick Tiffany; Pamela Thaxon; Sharon Pierce; Alan, AJ & Nick Neben; Scott & Cindy Neben & family; Dan & Sarah Neben & family; Debra Neben Rittgarn & family.

Two options to honor David on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Viewing at Schoedinger – Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High St., Worthington OH from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Main Celebration Service at One Church, 817 N. Hamilton Rd., Gahanna, OH: Doors open at 6pm, Service 7:00pm – 8:30pm.

David lived a full, adventurous life with sense of humor, sarcasm, enthusiasm, passion, transparency, grace and love. He impacted everyone he met with his willingness to take people as they are and offer encouragement and hope in Jesus. We love him dearly, miss him terribly, and know he is in Heaven now, cycling, golfing and debating liberty and freedom. Thanks to his faith, we know we will see this great father, husband, son and friend again.
