Doc, you will  continue to be in our prayers. I have known you for my entire "parrothead life" and I never thought that you would meet someone who could "tame" you. I was wrong. Debbie was your soul-mate.  She was the Shirley to your Laverne, the Abbott to your Costello, and the sugar to your spice.  I will always remember how you would pull your shenanigans and she would just shake her head, smile that big smile, and say "Oh Doc!' . Debbie is in a better place, and will always be with you. You will see her again.   Stay strong and keep the faith.  Much love to you!

Debbie - We first met in the 3rd Grade, and we became instant best friends.  Through high school and beyond, we did a lot of crazy & sometimes stupid things, but we always had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs. I remember when a poster of David Cassidy hung on your wall, you loved KC and the Sunshine Band, and you were an avid fan of John Denver – I think I tagged along to at least 5 of his concerts with you. We stayed up all night playing Monopoly, eating popcorn, and drinking Tang. Christmas was your favorite time of year, and it was always a joy to spend with the Chomas!  You taught me to jump rope. You loved to roller skate, and could hit a softball like no one could believe!  You introduced me to the “Thunderbolt” at Kennywood. We roomed together on school trips to Detroit, Washington DC, and Gettysburg. We were in Band together – you on Clarinet; me on Sax.  I gave you your first puppy – a Pomeranian named Gigsy. You gave me a tennis racket that I still have.  I streaked your hair.  We endured Drivers Ed together – You ran over birds & terrorized all of us, along with the teacher, with your back-up skills that took us off the road & down over an embankment.  I was with you on the last day of school when you got your first speeding ticket going 55 mph through the Knoxville Grade School zone in your Mom & Dad’s car – you were so mad at that cop for pulling you over!  Your first new car was a red Honda Civic that looked like a pregnant roller skate – you were so proud of it!  We spray painted “Beat Toronto” across the road for all of Toronto to see on their way to JU’s Homecoming game.  We terrorized the neighbor boys by trekking way down into the woods behind your house at 1 a.m. to throw a bullfrog in their tent – they screamed like little girls!  We endured accounting classes & Powder Puff Mechanics together.  We took jobs together at the Bank.  You were in my wedding.  You were “Aunt Debbie” to my kids.  I moved to Columbus shortly after you.  We had a lot of dreams, and even though they eventually took us on different paths, we have always stayed connected through the years. You travelled the world, made a lot of wonderful new friends, and eventually found the love of your life, Jeff.  My heart goes out to Jeff, David, Eddie, Aunt Martha, and the rest of your family & friends who are saddened by your passing. Your presence, your kindness and compassion, your smiling face, and your laughter will be greatly missed by all, but you left us all with many good memories.  I will never forget you, my friend ~we will always be each other’s “First Best Friends”.

Every time I saw Debbie , she always had a smile on her face.

I remember when Debbie was just a toddler and she and her family came for a visit one evening and she went directly to my Dad and sat on his lap.  It was such a cute thing to do and pleased my Dad.   We will all miss that big wonderful smile.

So sorry for your loss Jeff.  Debbie always sounded so wonderful and was always spoken of so fondly.  I'm sad that Hanna Kay wasn't able to meet her, but I sure hope that she will get to see you soon!  (and me too!)  Sending all of our love and prayers from Wyoming.
