Joyce passed away peacefully at the Medical Center of Newark on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 7, 1930 in Newark, to the late Fred and Dorothy (Reynolds) Rinehart.
Joyce was reared by her father in Newark, and at an early age she learned to tie fishing lures and tackle for the Rinehart Tackle Co. which was owned by her father. Later, in her teens, Joyce was courted by her future husband Mr. Harry Snyder Jr. After WWII, Harry returned from the war, and Harry and Joyce were wed on September 29, 1948 and they celebrated over 36 years before his passing in 1985. After their wedding Joyce and Harry moved to Fredonia, OH. and started their life together and reared three children.
In the ‘60s and ‘70s Joyce worked for her father as Co-administrator of the Newark Nursing Home on Forry Ave. (now Autumn Health Care).
Joyce was very much involved with her children, their schooling, and the community in which they lived. After the passing of Harry, Joyce began working with a dear friend, Gloria Hoover, at the Granville Life Style Museum, where she held the title of conservator for over 25 years.
Between her many jobs and adventures, she spent a lot of time tending to her true passion, which was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Spoiling them brought a smile to her face and gave her the title of “Queen Granny.”
Joyce was a true Christian Lady with a true spirit of humility. She showed love, and was truly caring for all she knew and met.
Joyce will always be lovingly remembered and so greatly missed by all her family, friends, and all that were touched by her. The family would like to express the most heartfelt thank you to all who touched her, in her life especially her dear friend Gloria Hoover and the Museum’s Golden Girls.
Along with her parents and Husband Harry, Joyce is preceded in death by her daughter Deborah L. Howard; son in law Orville E. Howard; sister and brother in law, June and Bill Richardson; and a very special sister in law Helen Hartfield.
