Dessie I. Spangler, age 88 of Columbus, passed away at her residence Saturday, October 22, 2011. Dessie was born in Washington Court House, Ohio, daughter of the late Freeman and Minnie Sprague. Also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Spangler, brothers, Howard and Clifford Sprague, sister, Lahoma McCoy Sheets, and special friend, Adrian Witherup. Dessie graduated from Central High School on the riverside in 1940. She retired from the State of Ohio in 1990. She had previously been a member of gardening clubs and enjoyed cooking, flowers, and taking drives in her PT Cruiser. She will be missed by her daughter, Anne Sells; step-grandson, Paul McCann; brother, Larry (Alice) Sprague; and many other nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
