Our dear mom, Diane Zane, 84, long-time resident of Upper Arlington, passed away on April 3rd, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. She was born to William and Betty King and moved to Upper Arlington as a little girl. She graduated with honors from Upper Arlington High School and went on to earn an English degree at The Ohio State University. Mom's beauty and wit were noticed when she was just a freshman at OSU where she was nominated for Homecoming Queen and served on the Homecoming Court. At OSU, she joined the Delta Delta Delta sorority and remained an active Buckeye fan throughout her life. Mom was a wonderful homemaker but her love of people also kept her active in service and social organizations, especially ones that provided outreach to children such as the Childhood League and the Buckeye Boy's Ranch. She was a member of First Community Church for over 60 years where she served with Guild X, volunteered at the Trading Post and the office switchboard, served as a church greeter and participated in a Couple's Circle. Later in life, she was an active volunteer at Riverside Hospital. Mom's warmth, her great smile and infectious sense of humor attracted many close and life-long friends. She was active in a bridge group for years, performed in the Vaud Villities and joined a volleyball league with her "Catholic girlfriends" where she found a way to stay active and enjoy many laughs for many years. The center of mom's life was always her family: husband(s), children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Spending quality time with her loved ones was her first priority and she has left a legacy of love and devotion to all of us. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty King, her husbands, Norman Fenner and Leonard Zane and her brother, Richard King. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Zane of Novato, California, Christopher Zane of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Kathy Zane of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Steven Zane of Boston, Massachusetts, David Zane of San Rafael, California and Lauren Hobson of Portland, Oregon.
