Dolly Parker, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at Country View of Sunbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on July 30, 1948, and lived a life marked by faith, independence, service, and unmistakable personal style.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Margaret and Granvil Yates, whom she now joins in eternal rest.
Dolly is survived by her loving brother, David Yates, and by her many lifelong friends who were truly like family to her, including Leslie, Don & Mary, along with countless others whose lives she touched through the years.
Dolly made her home in both Columbus and Dayton, Ohio, places that reflected the different seasons of her life. She worked for many years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where she was respected for her dedication, strong work ethic, and pleasant demeanor.
A committed Christian, Dolly was deeply active in her church community. Her faith was not only something she professed but something she lived daily - through mission trips and her faithful service feeding those in need, especially during Thanksgiving. Helping others was a natural outpouring of her love for Christ.
Dolly lived life on her own terms, with confidence and joy. She always seemed to be in motion, with a love for exercise and an active lifestyle that she maintained well into her later years. She was well known for her sense of style, always sporting a new outfit or a cute pair of shoes, details that brought smiles to those around her and remain fond memories for her friends and family.
A private graveside service will be held. In keeping with her wishes, she will be laid to rest alongside her parents at Glen Rest Memorial Estate in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21
Dolly’s faith guided her life on earth, and her loved ones take comfort in knowing she is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.
Those who knew Dolly may honor her in whatever way feels most meaningful to them. If you are so moved, donations in her name can be made to Bella Care Hospice, Country View of Sunbury or Ohio Network for Innovation.
