

Born and raised in Clintonville, Dolores attended Crestview & graduated North High 1946. As a child, she preferred to play cowboys and Indians and called herself a Tomboy. She later blossomed into a beauty queen. Miss Columbus 1948, & semi-finalist in Miss Ohio, and the Orange Bowl Parade. She traveled to all the big cities with her sister Marian, and loved Nightclubs, singing, and dancing the Jitterbug. Quite the performer, she belonged to the Paramount Players, doing musicals and band vocalist.
Before all the notoriety, her first job was selling Hot Dogs & Carmel Corn for her uncle's stand at North High School games, Buckeye Lake and Ohio State Fair. Ohio Bell Information Operator was her first official job while in high school. In 1946 she worked for Curtiss Wright. When they found out she had won Miss Columbus, they also hired her as a Photographic Model. Dolores became a Pin-Up Girl for squadrons of soldiers in the military. A few years later, she married, settled down and raised a family. Additional employment included Battelle Memorial, Preferred Title & Western Electric.
Preceded in death by husband, William Carpenter, parents, Nellie & Edward Theis, sister, Marian Theis Ball. Survived by children, Linda P Miller, Gary Pfaltzgraf, wife Ann, William Carpenter, Corinne Bobo, and Robin Daniel. Eight grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister Clara Childers, Houston, Texas, and Janelle(David)Harrigill, Columbus, OH.
