

Donald E. “Don” Martin, age 49, passed away Monday, August 30, 2010. Don was born July 3, 1961 in Columbus, Ohio and attended Franklin Heights High School. He went to work for William A. McDorman where he learned the sheet metal trade. In 1984 he started his own sheet metal business known as TAGS Inc. Don partnered with several Central Ohio companies making industrial electronic displays, medical equipment, and computer periforals. He also developed plant identification markers that have been used in venues like Ameriflora and botanical gardens nationwide. Don had a great appreciation for “American made” and was driven by the ideal, “never give up.” He was preceded in death by his father, Jack E. Martin. Don is survived by his wife of 27 years, Bernadette (Goodwin) Martin; daughters, Megan and Michelle Martin; mother, Ruth (Buckley) Martin; brother, David (Kim) Martin; nephews, John and Nick Martin; other family and friends and beloved Shar-pei, Sadee. Don’s life will be honored with a visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 2 and a funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, September 3 at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL 3030 W. Broad St. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Don’s memory to any Fifth Third Bank.
