Donald G. Pettitt (76) of Columbus OH, died suddenly on Wednesday, April 24 2019. He is survived by children, Mark (Beth) Pettitt of Powell, OH, Laurie Steele (Ryan) Dosier of Winchester, KY, and Jon Pettitt of Clearwater, FL; the mother of their children, Barbara (Weber) Pettitt of Baltimore Ohio; long-time companion, Jean (Hoshor) Schaffner; her daughter, Stephanie (Dan Burchett) Hoshor; and granddaughter, Aleria of Gahanna, OH. He is also survived by brothers, David Pettitt of Pensacola, FL, George Pettitt of Buffalo, NY; nephew, Kevin (Lana) and daughter Madeline of Blacklick, OH; grandchildren, A1C Ross Pettitt, A1C Michael Pettitt, Maxwell Steele, Mary Steele, Chase Pettitt; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, James Wesley and Irene (Halas) Pettitt of Buffalo, NY; and sister Elaine (Pettitt) Wright of Corpus Christie, TX.

Don was born May 19, 1942 in Buffalo NY. He graduated from Frontier High School, Buffalo, NY, in 1959 and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he honorably served until 1963. After his service he was employed at Trans World Airlines (TWA) as Lead Mechanic for over thirty years. Don was a proud member of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, VFW Post 3761, and Friends of Bill W. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in sports and theater, and tinkering in his garage.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road Gahanna, Ohio 43230; where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
